Is the EPiServer 7.5 Azure compatibility real or just some sales pitch. Make your own decision and look at my demo site. It might look familiar :) banana.testaaja.net or bananaazuredemo.azurewebsites.net (please click and make some traffic because I'm trying to collect data of the usage and costs) EPiServer 7.5 has gone through some changes and it's now fully supporting Azure environment. Major changes to file system now enables the use of Azure Blob Storage for storing files. The key features for building EPiServer site in Azure are Azure Web Sites, SQL Azure and Blob Storage. EPiServer has made detailed instructions for deploying EPiServer site in Azure. Based on my experience they seems to work nicely but deploying existing site like Alloy template to SQL Azure you might bump into some errors. Running EPiServer in Azure (not in virtual machines) is interesting mostly because it would provide environment which could be build up in hours and the billing of environment is based on it's usage. So it's perfect for test environments. Azure's scalability, CDN and other services would also be great base for building scalable global web sites. Next I'm trying to collect information about my demo site usage and costs. I'll publish the results in following posts. Already I can tell you that when the site has not been used the actual costs have been practically zero.
